Our Story...
Our Story...
I met Andy in March of the year 2000. I knew as soon as I laid eyes on him that he was “the one”. He had a small home on 5 acres and I immediately fell in love with it. He had big plans for everything that he wanted to do. Among many things, he wanted to have a big garden, many animals, and grow and cook sugar cane like his grandparents had done many years before. I always said he should've lived 100 years ago because he loved everything about farming, from the tractors to the animals. He never looked at it as work. He always said working outside was relaxing. As life would have it we couldn’t make a living with it. He was an electrician and that was what paid the bills. We had both been married before, he had a daughter and I had a son. We got married in August of 2001 and life was wonderful. We had two daughters together, built a house, started an electrical business, and acquired more land around us until we had our 44 acres.
On Labor Day weekend 2013 during the Annual Watkins Family Reunion Andy’s daughter, Kristina, got engaged to the love of her life, Sean. We were all very happy and the wedding planning began. Kristina had the dream of having a rustic barn wedding, and Andy told her that if she wanted to get married here on our property he would build a barn for their wedding. She began to buy items and decorations to personalize the space with the vision she had for her wedding. That was in late summer of 2015 and by October 24th we had a beautiful 5,000 square foot barn! Kristina and Sean had the wedding of their dreams. It was perfect! Over the next two years, we have held our family reunions here, graduation parties, fundraisers, and Christmas parties. We also had a vow renewal celebration, a 50th wedding anniversary celebration, and three weddings. We LOVED helping others make their dream celebrations come true!
So, we finally decided that we want to share our barn with others to be able to have the event of their dreams. We are available for Corporate Parties, Christmas Parties, Anniversary Parties, Graduation Parties, and most of all- Weddings. Our 44 acres farm has grown in to Sun Mill Farms. We raise turkeys, chickens, pigs, and cows. We grow sugar cane and still have the big garden. We love our little piece of paradise and we are ready to share it with others.
